Taking an opportunity today to get up into the woods to shoot a few more shots before the winds get up today and strip the leaves off the trees. Jones Gap State Park in Upstate SC.

The rare saturday off.
Jon and I had the rarest of things here at the studio. A Saturday when neither of us was booked! We decided to take full advantage of the situation and make a mad dash for the mountains to do some shooting for personal projects. Jon had a crazy week and I got in from Columbia SC about midnight last night, but we managed to meet up early this morning (ugh, mornings!) and headed off before 7. We started our trip out at a place called Harmon's Den near the NC/TN border and shot there until the light went ugly... Back in the Element for a run to one of My favorite places in the world - Cataloochee NC for some river shots and Jon hunted wildlife with his Cam's. I have seen the Elk enough that they are background noise for me, but this was Jon's first visit... he was like an excited 6 yr old when he finally saw them up close and personal.
We shot Cataloochee until a storm blew in... used that as an excuse to run back to Harmon Den. On a lark I decided to head further up the winding dirt road and check out a place called Max Patch... designated with a camera Icon and nothing more on the signs. 30 minutes later we found a great mountaintop view that made it all worth while... until....
Damsels in distress! Two young women were just ahead of us pulling in and had a RAPIDLY deflating tire on a big sport ute. Never being ones to miss a marketing oppor.... I mean a chance to help those in need... Jon changed the tire while I chatted and tried to appear involved.
We made it up to the view just in time to catch the last bit of light... each got off one set of shots and made it back to the car as full dark took over. Interestingly that last shot is my fave of the trip.
Now the kicker of the day. All of the shots here are captured with a moderately priced point and shoot Nikon. I decided to have some fun at the expense of those who believe it's the cameras that makes our work great.

Charleston On A Stormy Weekend.
We were on assign, ent this weekend down in Charleston SC doing some wedding work. Most of the drive down from Greenville on Friday was in the midst of an ugly storm front. We got into Charleston just before it arrived and made it down to the marina just as the storm arrived. From there we made a run across the Ravenel Bridge to catch the clouds as they broke just at the last bits of sunset. A late Chinese take out dinner then up after a few hours of sleep to grab sunrise shots at the waterfront then off to work with our lovely bride. We could not have been more inspired this weekend... and these are just the fun shots! The shots where we really put our backs into for our clients will be up shortly :-)
